  • Step 1. Place your order

This can be done over the phone (0808 145 5789) or by mail.  Once your order has been received, your bespoke sampling kit(s) will be dispatched to the address(es) specified along with a confirmation of your order.   If an order is placed before 1pm on any working day, then we can usually guarantee that the sampling kits and associated paperwork will be dispatched the very same day, too.

  • Step 2. Take your samples

When you receive the sampling kit, read through the instructions carefully. Take your cheek cell samples using the two personalised swabs provided with the sampling kit. Once you have taken your samples place the swabs back into their container.

  • Step 3. Sign the consent forms

All individuals put forward for testing i.e. usually mum, child and alleged father, must read their respective consent forms carefully before signing. If you are unsure about anything , then please call us on the dedicated dadcheck® case line: 0191 516 6633. Please note: if the child to be tested is under the age of 16, then the person with Parental Responsibility (PR) for the child (usually mum) MUST sign on the child’s behalf and ideally must be present when the child has their sample taken.   If you are having your samples taken by an independent third party, e.g. your GP, please make sure you have passport size photos for all people participating in the test for the person taking your sample to sign in order to warrant your IDs. This is absolutely essential when having an accredited DNA test i.e. one that will be used to change legal documents such as birth certificates, for example.

  • Step 4. Send them back to us

Place the swabs and the completed, signed consent forms back into the envelope provided and post it back to us. Please note: you must pay for the postage. We recommend that you send the kits back to us via recorded delivery, to guarantee they do not get lost in the post.   Failure to put the correct postage on the envelopes will result in unnecessary delays to the processing of your case.

  • Step 5. Get your results

Once the swabs have been received by the dadcheck® team, it will take between 5 to 10 working days before we get a result to you.   All adult parties tested (including the individuals giving consent on behalf of a child tested under the age of 16) are entitled to receive a written copy of the results. Remember! The person who ordered the test can also receive the results over the phone, if so desired. If you need your results in a hurry we do have an Express Processing service. Please call on 0808 145 5789 to find out more about this.

It’s that easy! But if you do have any further questions, please call us on 0808 145 5789 – we’d be pleased to help.
